Meet Lin - the Snowy Owl

Lin is the newest resident of the Hillside Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre operated by Leona Green. Lin was recently rescued by the staff at C.E. Franklin. It seems that Lin was under attack by a flock of ravens before the staff stepped in.

Leona has seen this before, “These young owls fledge in the spring on the Arctic tundra where mice are plentiful, but as they move south for the winter the snow makes mousing much more difficult, and these beautiful birds just become exhausted”. Lin (taken from C.E. FrankLIN) is now under Leona’s care and is making a slow but steady recovery.

For over 20 years Leona has been nursing injured and orphaned wildlife back to health. From beavers to bears, to birds, Leona has seen them all and releases them back into the wild as soon as they are able to fend for themselves.

The Hillside Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre receives no Government funding and relies entirely on private donations.
